The current Worcestershire Youth Brass band (WYBB) can trace its roots to the former Worcester City Brass, an independent Band formed in 1996 by Nicky Daw & Esther Pattison.
In 1999 Nicky was asked by the then Head of Brass in Worcestershire, Gordon Hartley-Bennett, to form a Youth Brass Band to compete at the National Youth Brass Band Championships. The Worcester City Brass Youth Band was expanded to include other young brass musicians playing with Bands & ensembles within the County. Their debut performance at the Championships saw them presented with a Bronze award. Further appearances were made in 2000 & 2001.
In 2002 the day to day management of Worcester City Brass was taken over by Worcestershire Youth Music. This change enabled the Worcestershire Youth Brass Band to meet & rehearse on a regular basis during term time. The current Band is made up of members drawn from all 6 Areas within Worcestershire .
Below is a photograph of when the band toured Hawaii in 2010.
